plein-air painting and sketching
Two enchanting weeks at an Italian villa on a wine and olive oil estate located in Chianti hills just 10 kilometers southwest of Florence were enjoyed by 16 painters in 2008. The surrounding rolling hills of vineyards and olive trees and the historic little hill towns in the Tuscany region were the subjects of their plein air paintings. Artists brought home the memories in sketches and paintings in pastel, oil and watercolor. Each day started with a full breakfast. a packed lunch, a morning lesson and a trip to a nearby town or out to paint a view from the villa. After such an exhilarating day, the group returned to the cool interiors of villa to relax, visit and relish a dinner prepared by the Italian chef.
